After 81 years of spanning the Penobscot River estuary, providing the means for millions of travelers to cross from Prospect to Verona Island and vice-versa, this magnificent, elegant historic bridge is being demolished. It has been replaced by Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory, home of the world's tallest public bridge observatory.

Update: As of June 12, 2013, removal of the Waldo-Hancock Bridge was completed and the suspension bridge no longer stands over the Penobscot River.
